About Gracie

Gracie Burgess is a U.S. Army B.R.A.T. When she was nine years old, her dad stepped on an improvised explosive device while on patrol in Afghanistan - sustaining life altering injuries. Throughout her life, Gracie has always felt drawn to the military community and mission. In several phases of her life, she considered military service but always came to the conclusion it was not for her. In high school, Gracie dreamed of being an Athletic Trainer for the WWE or a Sports Medicine Physician. However, she fell in love with marketing mid-way through college. Gracie ultimately earned a Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a minor in Marketing from Florida Gulf Coast University in May 2023. Upon graduation, she immediately began attending a graduate program virtually at the University of Alabama. In May 2024, she graduated with a Master of Science in Marketing with a concentration in Digital and Social Media. After much deliberation about her future career, Gracie decided it was time to fulfill her dream of joining the military. In fall 2024, she will be shipping out to Basic Combat Training to become a U.S. Army Soldier - followed by Officer Candidate School in Spring 2025 to become a U.S. Army Officer.

Some of Gracie’s hobbies include learning, reading, running, making clay jewelry, and spending time with her family.

About Grace of a Military Child and Life

In April 2021, Gracie launched Grace of a Military Child Podcast after the suggestion from her mother. The aim of the podcast was to both share the stories of military children and give civilians a way to understand what the life of a military child is like. 1 April 2021, Gracie launched her very first podcast episode. While the podcast was challenging at times she found purpose in sharing the remarkable journeys of military children.

After having a long distance military relationship, Gracie decided to expand the podcast to Grace of a Military Child and Life in August 2022. Gracie understood the perspective from a military significant other and the challenges it presented. She wanted to give spouses a space where they felt heard and were able to share their stories of being married to a member of the U.S. Armed Forces. While she is no longer in a military relationship, she cherishes the friendships she has made with other military spouses and significant others.

Today, Gracie continues celebrating the remarkable journeys of military children and spouses by allowing them a space to share their stories with the world. She believes in the power of storytelling and how much of an impact it can make. Many military children and spouses who have been on the podcast view it as therapeutic. This has been turned into motivation for Gracie to continue the work to give back to a community that made her who she is.
